Aromatherapy - The therapeutic use of Essential oils, Aromatherapy, is one of the most practical, useful, and safe forms of healing available today! Medical Aromatherapy dates back thousands of years. The use of essential oils to protect against plague, relieve pain, and much more are detailed many times over in the Bible. In these desperate times during which western medicine is falling us in our quest for health, well-being and longevity, medical science has taken up the interest, research, and application of using essential oils of plants for healing. The use of essential oils can be beneficial for relieving stress, insomnia, hormonal problems, respiratory problems, aches and pains, digestive problems and depression. In my practice I use Young Living essential oil products exclusively and have over 120 different oils available for my clients to enhance their massage experience.

Swedish Massage - Swedish massage is a gentle, rhythmic massage administered to relax soft body tissue and facilitate healing. It is lighter in touch than other forms of massage and incorporates long flowing strokes, kneading, percussion, vibration, and friction techniques on more superficial layers of the muscles. It can loosen stiff joints, reduce muscle tension, and help clear nasal or chest congestion. Swedish massage contributes to overall well-being and is widely prescribed by physicians to enhance treatment of insomnia, anxiety, and depression.

Deep Tissue Massage - Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly. This type of massage also breaks down scar tissue, known as restrictive fascia. It is necessary to drink plenty of water for a couple of days after this type of massage to help eliminate the released toxins.

Trigger Point Therapy - A trigger point is a small contraction knot in muscle tissue keeping the muscle tight and weak. When pressure is applied to a trigger point, it causes pain to radiate or refer to another area. For example, pressing a trigger point in a muscle in the calf of your leg may send pain to the bottom of your foot. The referral pattern may also be felt as numbness or tingling in another area. In this therapy, pressure is applied to the trigger point using deep digital pressure sustained for 5 to 30 seconds to relieve pain and increase mobility.

Neuromuscular Therapy(NMT) - Our bodies continuously endure stresses from trauma, improper body mechanics, poor posture, as well as psychological and emotional stress. As a result, our bodies attempt to compensate for the stress by producing neuromuscular changes. These changes result in reduced mobility, pain, fatigue, and depression. Along with various tissue manipulation techniques, this therapy is based on trigger-point therapy, which uses the neuromuscular system to balance and normalize muscle function and reduce the pain response. With this technique, muscles are worked individually to release trigger points, tender points, and tight bands so that pain and tension decrease or dissipate.

Myofascial Release (MFR) – A very effective technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This technique affects the fascial (or connective tissue) system of the body. Fascia is the tough connective tissue system of the body covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery, vein and internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. In the normal healthy state, the fascia is relaxed and wavy in configuration. It has the ability to stretch and move without restriction. When we experience physical trauma, scarring, or inflammation, the fascia loses its pliability and restrictions are formed. These restrictions exert excessive pressure producing pain and restriction of motion. Myofascial Release is an excellent therapy to relieve chronic pain issues such as whiplash, fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, TMJ pain and chronic back, neck and shoulder pain due to old injuries. Geriatric Massage - This is a 30-minute massage using modifications of standard techniques that are especially suitable to the physical conditions in the older population. This massage is especially good in improving or even restoring circulation in legs that are suffering from arteriosclerosis or peripheral vascular disease, relieving muscle and joint stiffness and reducing mental stress and depression. The term "geriatric" refers to health impairments that are caused by physical changes in the body due to aging. The goals of this treatment are to provide immediate relief of muscle pain, swelling (edema), joint stiffness, muscle tightness and neck and shoulder problems. Long-term improvements for stroke recovery, Arthritic conditions, Peripheral Vascular Disease, gait correction and Parkinson’s disease can be achieved with a specific massage program of 2 to 5 weekly half-hour sessions for 2 to 3 months.

Raindrop Technique Massage(RT) - This is a technique incorporating massage, vita flex and the application of nine essential oils to assist the body in correcting defects such as scoliosis, kyphosis and chronic back pain. A growing amount of scientific research shows that certain microorganisms lodge near the spinal cord and contribute to deformities. Viruses or bacteria that lie dormant along the spine cause many types of scoliosis and spinal misalignments. These pathogens create inflammation, which, in turn disfigure and contort the spinal column. RT can be customized to address different health issues unrelated to back problems. By adding specific oils to the basic RT oils, lung infections, digestive complaints, hormonal problems and other problems can be addressed.

Hot Stone Massage - New England Sea stones, heated to 130 degrees, are laid along, on top and underneath the body, following the chakra system. Thin, smooth, heated stones are inserted between each toe. Essential oils can be applied to enhance the experience. Heated stones are then used to massage the body to relieve stiff, sore muscles and melt away tension and stress. Subtle energies within the body are aligned to bring about greater attunement and harmony.

PNF Facilitated Stretching - Facilitated stretching is active-assisted stretching, which uses active motion and isometric work to improve flexibility and enhance motor learning in the process. The three steps involved in facilitated stretching are: (1) actively lengthen the target muscle, (2) isometrically contract the target muscle, and (3) actively lengthen the target muscle again. This form of stretching is very effective in improving range of motion.

Relief of Plantar Fasciitis symptoms - One of my clients who suffers from Plantar Fasciitis has developed a unique tool to be used with the Graston Technique to break up the scar tissue in the bottom of the feet. I am currently using this tool in the treatment of two clients. With this tool I am able go deeper than with my fingers alone and consequently promote healing and provide pain relief for a longer period for my clients.
